Satellite Upgrade from 4.43 to 4.44¶
This guide will lead you through the steps specific for upgrading a NetEye Satellite installation from version 4.43 to 4.44.
Warning
Remember that you must upgrade sequentially without skipping versions, therefore an upgrade to 4.44 is possible only from 4.43; for example, if you have version 4.21, you must first upgrade to the 4.22, then 4.23, and so on.
Before starting an upgrade, you should read very carefully the latest release notes on NetEye’s blog and check out the features that will be changed or deprecated after the upgrade. You should check also the whole section Breaking Changes below.
Breaking Changes¶
Update and Upgrade procedures¶
Starting from NetEye 4.44, including the Satellite upgrade from NetEye 4.43 to 4.44, satellites will not require the neteye satellite setup and the neteye_finalize_installation as part of the update/upgrade procedure, meaning that only the neteye satellite update and neteye satellite upgrade commands will be sufficient to carry out both operations.
Prerequisites¶
Before starting the upgrade, you should read very carefully the latest release notes on NetEye’s blog and check out the features that will be changed or deprecated after the upgrade.
All NetEye packages installed on a currently running version must be updated according to the update procedure prior to running the upgrade.
NetEye Master must be version 4.44 fully updated
If the NetEye Master is running a Sprint Release version, the NetEye Master must be on the latest Sprint Release available of NetEye 4.44 (usually 4.44-sr4).
NetEye Satellite must be version 4.43 fully updated
The 4.44 NetEye Satellite configuration archive can be found on the satellite at
/root/satellite-setup/config/4.44/satellite-config.tar.gz
. To generate and send the Satellite configuration archive see the section Satellite Configuration
NetworkManager Migration¶
Please, make sure that you have migrated all of your nodes to use the NetworkManager as described in the Additional Upgrade Tasks section.
1. Run the Upgrade¶
To automatically download the latest upgrade you can run the following command on the Satellite:
sat# (nohup neteye satellite upgrade &) && tail --retry -f nohup.out
After the command was executed, the output will inform if the upgrade was successful or not:
In case of successful upgrade you might need to restart NetEye to properly apply the upgrades. If the reboot is not needed, please skip the next step.
In case the command fails refer to the troubleshooting section.
2. Reboot¶
Restart NetEye to apply the upgrades correctly.
sat# neteye node reboot
